OF HUNTING AND NATURE | 2014~ In progress
"For a long time I observed and, maybe, I’ve been observed to. The one who is hunting is hunted too, and the one who observes is observed at the same time.”
(– Ernest Junger)
“Of Hunting and Nature” is a exhibition and istallation about nature, wildlife and hunting within the twelve months of the year and the four seasons.
The project started by in 2014 and still in progress involves not only photograhpy and video (trail cameras) but also: books, natural objects (finds), sculptures, watercolors, texts, maps, illustrations, drawings, taxidermy and installations.
“I tried to do this with the approach of a documentary photographer but also with basic knowledge of hunting, vernacular literature, neutralistic science, taxidermy, zoology and ethology”.
This project is also the “hundred-kilometer journey” done over weeks of walking. Hikes were done along well marked paths (but sometimes also through certainly unknown paths) and after accurately reported in maps. Paths located in the Appennino Mountains, in Liguria and Tuscany: wild but friendly lands.
"This is also a journey made of long waits and sudden meetings, long silences and unexpected discoveries, of wide spaces and little moments.
After such long walk I realized that Hunting and Nature are (as probably life and death are) strictly connected between themselves.
Hunt is life and death and Nature is life and death.
This journey is about Hunting and Nature and also, may be, about life and death."
The project “Of Hunting and Nature” includes the following artworks, artist's books and series :
/ Trail camera (2016, video) / Sentieri ~ Paths (2017, artist's book) / Immortelle (2018, installation) / Ex-Voto (2020-in progress, installation)
/ L'Oiseau Perdu (2023, artist's book) / Collection (2020, series of objects) / Trabocchetti (2025-in progress, installation)
/ Amore Amaro (2025-still in progress, watercolors)
/ Immortelle (2018, installation : pictures , watercolours and old frames with or without glass )
This installation is a tribute to painting and the beauty of nature seen through a romantic lens. To accentuate their romantic side and fragility, the images are sometimes presented without glass.
Glass serves to preserve the work, but at the same time, it can become a visual obstacle, a sort of invisible barrier between the observer of the landscape and nature itself. Removing it invites the viewer to immerse themselves completely in the beauty of nature, but also to perceive and share its fragility.
Immortelle, scientific name: Helichrysum Italicum.

/ Ex-Voto (2020-in progress, installation : bird's feathers and old frames )
It's an installation that changes shape depending on the exhibition space and is composed of frames of different shapes and sizes containing real bird feathers. The installation is a tribute to the sanctuaries of Liguria but also to the spiritual side present in each of us: each of us has a deity that is different and very important to each of us. My spirit guide is, without a doubt, a bird.

/ Collection (2020, series of objects : made by wood and natural elements )
Is a series of small 3D installations created from natural objects from the forests of Liguria.

/ Trabocchetti (2025-in progress, installation)
Also called Useless Traps, are a series of small 3D installations created from old hunting objects found or removed from long-abandoned hunting posts. The components of these traps were deliberately assembled incorrectly: their sole function is to trap anyone who tries to use them as traps. The purpose of the installation is to highlight these forgotten objects, but also to reflect on the traps we sometimes set for ourselves: for example to prevent ourselves from achieving a goal or simply to be happy.
